ISB Ranks among World’s Top 20 Best B Schools

The Indian School of Business (ISB) has been listed as one among the top 20 Global B Schools by the Financial Times annual MBA 2008 rankings:)
The achievement is particularly notable, as ISB is the first B School from India, to have found a place in the FT’s B School league table.
M Rammohan Rao, Dean, ISB, said, "This is a landmark event for ISB. It sums up our single-minded goal to be recognised as a global centre of excellence in business education. This ranking is an important milestone in our journey to be an internationally top-ranked research-driven, and independent management institution that grooms leaders for the world."

The FT ranking is calculated on the basis of 20 criteria covering specifics like career progress of graduates, diversity of the MBA experience, international mobility of alumni, and ideas generation & research etc.

Ajit Rangnekar, Deputy Dean, ISB, commented, "We are proud to have played a part in positioning India and Andhra Pradesh on the global map of business education. The FT ranking raises the bar even higher for ISB, and we are equipped to meet future expectations.” The ISB, in its sixth year now, has constantly endeavoured to excel on all parameters required to be placed among the best global B Schools, and in a remarkably short period of time has romped into the top 20.

It's a day to celebrate for all of us: the staff, students and spouses:)

Amazing trip to the south of India

Day 1: reaching GOA After such a long journey: waking up with the incredible music that the masala, samosa and cofee sellers made ( cay cay cay cay, accha lagaaaa, samosaa dimtis dimtis dimtis), the three hours of riding by car from Londa to Madgao on the very bad streets and the other three hours of ride from Madgao to all the way to Baga, the very very last moment that we all were exhausted and suffering cause of hungriness, it was just that time that we had reached our beautiful portugues house and caught the amazing sunset over the sea with a little melody of the palms that made cause of the blowing wind :) We were so amazed! by luck and without knowing that well actually I chose and pick up one of the best hostels there in Baga Beach. Our place was just on the lake and it was 5 minutes far to the beach by crossing the bridge and just 5 seconds far away by swimming from the bay to the beach:) The first night we reached there I had this delicios fish called promphet with good shrimp coctail and an icy jusicy kingfisher:) Afterwords we got ready and met with Jaydeep and his friends to rock in GOA for the first night out:)

We went to this hippie trans party which started amazing and ended up very boring after the same beats repeating over and over again, while every body were having good time and flying over the rainbow me and Neha were not even high and drunk at all:) I think electro is really not for us.. so Jaydeep and his friends had to drop as back after 4 hours and I felt really bad that we couldnt rock untill the mornings. Next time I said....

Day 2: the crazy christmas party:) spent all the day at the beach side, Swimming and sunbathing. I got a real good coctail and was enjoying the protugues fusion album that i had at my Ipod.

The wierd sellers

Neha's amazing neclace

Nico's delicios fish for lunch and the interesting taste of a shark , Paragliding with Neha and having shisha on the beach by the sunset were the higlights of the day:) and the rest of the night was just starting when our other folks arrived ( Alexandra, Aysecan, Inji, Wouter). Me and Ayse just started to drink by then untill the morning:)

That was a special night it was christmas eve and it was the best christmas I've ever had:) After having a great dinner at a very nice place we just ended up partying at least in 12 different clubs with Tom and the portugues guy ;) joining us as well, swimming at the Arabian ocean after changing each place, buying 4 bottles of votka and finishing untill the end of the bottle .

Later on: It was 7 in the morning and everybody were sleeping next to the fire on the beach and me! still awake and having a wierd conversation with a finnish guy about the ottomans, India, finland and the sun...

was an amazing night I must say:)

day 3: wasted but still riding on the bikes to the undiscovered...

After Nico got over with his hangover we rented our bikes and had an amazing ride to the beautiful peacefull Morjim beach and chilled out all the day and stupid Nico lost his motorbike keys once again on the sand while he was checking the topless Russian girls:p It was a miricle that we found the keys and went back on our ride. I couldnt take my eyes of the beautiful portugues houses, all the journey. It seemed to me that GOA was a fisher town but at the same time a town of joy where people had no issues with poverty:) I guess it was 90% Christian and I could see alot of people gathering to celebrate the holly christmas week:) Then close to the sunset we decided to check out the fort and when we climbed to the top we realized that once again we were at the right place at the right time:) The amazing view of the anjuna beach and the pretty sun... life is just really beautifull.....

Hampi: The city of Ruins

Hampi (ಹಂಪೆ) is a village at the nort at the Karnataka state 13 km's far from the actual city called Hospet and It is only 9 hours from hyderabad where I live. You can reach there by train and as well as by bus. Which we took the second option and went there by a very comfortable sleeping bus.
The name of Hampi is a corruption of Pampa, which is the puranic name of the Tungabhadra River on whose banks the city is built. The river seperates this little town to two and you can spend one day to see around for each part. So in one side there is the Hampi gate and the most wellknown monument the Virupaksha temple and the bazar. And the other side hosts the hippie colony, lake , some more temples and the lake. The locals more likely to bee seemed like gypsies ( you can figure that out from their colourfull clothes and accesories) wherelse the visitors are more likely to be hippies from all over the world. Gypsies travel to southern states like to GOA and Kerala for tradeing ( a part of their nomadic lifes) the hand make works they do,including skirts, carpets, dupartas and many nice jewelery as well as Hippies. They also travel and live in Goa during the summer. I can say that these two kinds have a lot in common.
Hampi is located within the ruins of Vijayanagara, the former capital of the Vijayanagara empire. Possibly predating the city of Vijayanagara, this village continues to be an important religious centre, housing the Virupaksha Temple. The village of Hampi contains several other monuments belonging to the old city. It extends into some of the old ceremonial streets of Vijayanagara. As the village is at the original centre of Vijayanagara, it is sometimes confused with this ruined city. Hampi is also called "The City of Ruins". The Vijayanagara ruins are listed as the Group of Monuments at Hampi as a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE.
Hampi is identified with the mythological Kishkindha, the Vanara (monkey) kingdom which finds mention in the Ramayana. That why you can find a lot of monkeys everywhere, especially around and in the temples.
The first historical settlements in Hampi date back to 1 CE.
Hampi formed one of the cores of the capital of the Vijayanagara empire from 1336 to 1565. It was destroyed by Moslem emperors. Hampi was chosen because of its strategic location, bounded by the torrential Tungabhadra river on one side and surrounded by defensible hills on the other three sides.
The site is of great importance in terms of architecture and historical significance. The demography is abundant with large stones which have been utilized to make larger than life statues of god. One can see a structure of historic importance every quarter of a mile.
Sadly the city is in ruins as it was not able to defend itself against Islamic aggressions who treat Idol worship as blasphemy, 'all' the idols have been destroyed or damaged, the successive governments have not been able to keep the place free from treasure seekers who claim further damage.
To stay on the other side of the river at the hippe colony where we listened to the amazing music they make and rent a motorbike for all the day, was the highlight of our travel to "hippie, gypsie Hampi '':)

Water and the impact of thought

Water…

The Earth is largely made up of it.

As are we…

And yet about it we know significantly little.Until the groundbreaking work of a pioneer Japanese researcher whose astonishing discovery about water, documented photographically, changed most of what we didn't know…and led to a new consciousness of Earth's most precious resource.Dr. Masaru Emoto was born in Japan and is a graduate of the Yokohama Municipal University and the Open International University as a Doctor of Alternative Medicine. His photographs were first featured in his self-published books Messages from Water 1 and 2. The Hidden Messages in Water was first published in Japan, with over 400,000 copies sold internationally.

What has put Dr. Emoto at the forefront of the study of water is his proof that thoughts and feelings affect physical reality. By producing different focused intentions through written and spoken words and music and literally presenting it to the same water samples, the water appears to "change its expression".

Essentially, Dr. Emoto captured water's 'expressions.' He developed a technique using a very powerful microscope in a very cold room along with high-speed photography, to photograph newly formed crystals of frozen water samples. Not all water samples crystallize however. Water samples from extremely polluted rivers directly seem to express the 'state' the water is in.

You make me sick

Love and Gratitude

Dr. Masaru Emoto discovered that crystals formed in frozen water reveal changes when specific, concentrated thoughts are directed toward them. He found that water from clear springs and water that has been exposed to loving words shows brilliant, complex, and colorful snowflake patterns. In contrast, polluted water, or water exposed to negative thoughts, forms incomplete, asymmetrical patterns with dull colors. The implications of this research create a new awareness of how we can positively impact the earth and our personal health. The success of his books outside Japan has been remarkable. Dr. Emoto has been called to lecture around the world as a result and has conducted live experiments both in Japan and Europe as well as in the US to show how indeed our thoughts, attitudes, and emotions as humans deeply impact the environment.
